NEW INSTRUCTOR
AT SHS...SALLY SIEGRIST
After more than 30 years in the horse business Sally has been successful
in many different disciplines of the sport. In the quarter horse
world she enjoyed success in both English and western pleasure at
the AQHA shows. Her specialty was English and western pleasure,
and her horses received many Registers of Merit as well as grand
championships. Sally rode one of her horses to the National Reserve
Champion in amateur western pleasure. She was the 1974 All American
Quarter Horse Congress Queen.
Having ridden in horse trials up to Intermediate level, Sally won
several horse trials. She was in the ribbons at the Essex 3 Day
Event and at the Chesterland Preliminary Championships. In the world
of dressage Sally trained and showed horses in training, first,
second and 4th level with success. Her mentor is Dr Max Gahwyler
who taught her the principles of dressage in the European tradition.
She expanded her training by riding horses in Switzerland at the
same stable that bred and trained Gaugin de Lully. Gaugin, ridden
by Christina Stuckleberger, won medals at the Seoul Olympic Games
and the dressage world championships.
Sally has always trained and shown her own horses as well as horses
for other owners and students. She enjoys teaching riders and horses
in all disciplines. Seeing horses and riders become more confident
as well as more proficient gives her as much satisfaction as training
and riding her own horses.
VICTORIA MATHER PROFILE:
"Torey" has been riding most of her life, starting out
on trotting horses as a child and teenager. She attended Merideth
Manor Equestrian College as a young adult, and as she got older
and after major back surgery She found the Gaited horse!
Torey says the love affair started with an elderly Paso Fino, who
taught me the ropes. I attended many clinics and seminars learning
about the Gaited breeds and then I found the Peruvian Horse...the
"Cadillac" of the Gaited breeds! And I might be bias...
but what the heck. I have since ridden and gotten the feel for many
different breeds of Gaited horses. I get a lot of satisfaction helping
people find their way with their horses, becoming a partnership,
and understanding the gaits. In the past 20 years I have been riding
Gaited Horses, I am always willing to share what I have learned
with someone else
Torey is a lifetime member of The North East Peruvian Horse Club
and currently serving a term on the BOD.
